Amid growing concerns of increase in omicron variant related cases, Google announced that it is postponing its global office return plan until further notice.
This announcement comes when all employees were told to end their voluntary work-from-home and return to work three days a week from January 10th. Some of the employees have also shown reluctance to be vaccinated against the Corona Virus. On Thursday, Google executives told employees that the company would postpone the deadline beyond that date, first reported by the Insider.
The US has seen about 40% of employees retuning to work offline in offices in the recent weeks. In other parts of the world this percentage is higher.
When the pandemic erupted, Google was one of the first companies that asked employees to work from home. Google has more than 70 offices in 50 countries.
79 cases of the omega-3 variant have been reported in Europe, reported The European Union's public health agency on Thursday.
