People approach government offices to get services, not a favour: Chief Minister

Thiruvananthapuram : Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has criticized the employees for their unhealthy behaviour when people approach them for services. 'They come to exercise their right and not to attain a favour.' The Chief Minister said while inaugurating the State conference of the Kerala Municipal and Corporation Staff Union.

All government employees are public servants. Their actions should not harm the interest of the public and should agree with the code of conduct of the state. Though the Chief Minister criticized the employees, he also added that not everyone acts in this way. There are people who think otherwise, and they needed to be corrected.

Many a times the doors are not opened even with constant knocking. He also noted that Corruption has been reported to be comparatively low in Kerala. However, the aim should be to wipe it out completely from the state. He also reminded that every employee who occupies a position is there to help the people. Such issues should also be taken up and discussed at organizational meetings.
