Keralite students stranded at Polish border

New Delhi: Keralite students from Ukraine are stranded at Polish border. The students who arrived in Shehini, Ukraine's Polish border, yesterday, are waiting for the border to open in freezing temperatures. They lack basic requirements including food and water.

Hundreds of students are arriving at the town of Shehini at the Ukrainian border. Students waiting there report that Ukraine does not allow Indians out of the border, but at the same time it allows other nationalities to cross over.

Various groups are contacting the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassies in Ukraine and Poland for assistance. Several fear that they will succumb to death if the Central and State Governments do not intervene immediately. Many Keralites have come to a near by town the, Medka, near the Polish border to receive students when they cross over state lines.
