Kuwait SMCA creates history by handwriting the Holy Bible

Kuwait City: Kuwait SMCA created history by handwriting the Malayalam Holy Bible outside India. Kuwait SMCA, which also holds the record for performing the largest margam kali, had a remarkable achievement in transcribing the Bible. 235 members of the SMCA Abbasiya area participated in the project entitled "A Bible for the Parish".

On November 24, the Syro-Malabar Apostolic Vicar of Kuwait, Fr. Johnny Lonis Mazhuvanchery inaugurated the Handwritten Bible project. Copywriting was accelerated with the guidance of Father Cyriac Kodamullil and Sister Retty Paul in coordination with the Kuwaiti SMC. The writing was accomplished using blessed paper and pens.

Those who participated in the project acknowledged their participation as one of divine mission.

Chapters from the Holy Bible were distributed equally among the 35 family units in Abbasiya. It was then written in two columns on a page. The project began on December 1st.

A two-member core committee, chaired by David Anthony Chirayam, evaluated the progress of the Bible writing project every two weeks and guided the members. The SMCA logo was drawn to this handwritten Bible. Papers with misspellings or errors were omitted and rewritten. 1800 A3 size papers were used in writing the Bible.

The entire Bible was completed on April 14, was bound into a book, and handed over to Abbasiya Parish Assistant Vicar and Syro Malabar Catechism Director Father Prakash Kanjirathingal on 24th April, Sunday of Neophytes (Puthu Naayar). Father Prakash offered the handwritten Holy Bible to the Parish.
