New Hampshire - Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley delivered a major policy speech on the economy in the crucial early primary state of New Hampshire. During her speech, she highlighted China's intentions and its impact on the United States.
Haley asserted that China has spent the last fifty years strategizing to undermine the United States, and in some aspects, the Chinese military is already on par with the U.S. armed forces. This statement came shortly after her Indian-American Republican rival, Vivek Ramaswamy, delivered a foreign policy speech on China in Ohio. Both Haley and Ramaswamy have gained popularity as GOP candidates following the tenure of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
"Strength and pride are vital for our nation's survival, particularly in the face of Communist China. China poses an existential threat to us. It has devoted half a century to plotting our defeat," Haley declared. She accused China of seizing American manufacturing jobs, appropriating trade secrets, and gaining control over critical industries, from pharmaceuticals to advanced technology. She emphasized China's rapid ascent from an economically disadvantaged nation to the world's second-largest economy and its intentions to become the largest. According to Haley, the Communist Party of China is actively building a powerful, state-of-the-art military capable of challenging the United States and exerting dominance over Asia and beyond.
"In certain aspects, China's military is already comparable to the U.S. armed forces, and in some areas, they are surpassing us. China's leaders exude confidence, even sending spy balloons into our skies and establishing a spy base near our shores in Cuba," she stated. "Let there be no doubt: The Communist Party is gearing up for war, with the intention of emerging victorious," Haley asserted.
Haley also shared her economic plan, which involves providing substantial tax relief and financial freedom to middle-class Americans. She pledged that every middle-class family would receive substantial tax relief, asserting that individuals are best equipped to manage their own money. Among her proposed measures are the complete elimination of the federal gas and diesel tax, providing relief to families grappling with high fuel prices. She emphasized her commitment to fund road infrastructure without diverting funds to environmental initiatives and pledged to reduce income taxes for working families.
In addition, Haley promised to eliminate President Joe Biden's $500 billion in green energy subsidies, aiming to halt financial benefits for China. She vowed to veto any spending bill that does not return the United States to pre-COVID spending levels, emphasizing the need to curtail excessive government spending.
Furthermore, Haley proposed imposing term limits not only on politicians but also on bureaucrats, limiting their tenure to five years to enhance public service and prevent the entrenchment of political power. She emphasized that public service is a privilege and that under her administration, non-performing bureaucrats would be subject to dismissal.
