New Delhi : Reports have emerged confirming that there will be no more mega star auctions in the IPL. The national media said that the auction ahead of the 2022 season will be the last one. There will be no more mega auctions. The pre-2022 mega auction will take place next month, the report also said.

There will be 10 teams from the next season. With the release of the list of players retaining existing teams, the two new franchises will be able to bring three players to the team before the auction. In that case, Rashid Khan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Ben Stokes are expected to join the two teams before the auction.

The Chennai Super Kings have retained four players, including skipper MS Dhoni. Apart from Dhoni, Chennai has retained Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali. Royal Challengers Bangalore has retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj. Rajasthan Royals retained Sanju Samson as the first player. In addition, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal are also retained by Rajasthan.

The Kolkata Knight Riders retained Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine. While Delhi Capitals retained captain Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw and Anrich Nortje. Mumbai Indians retained captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard.
