Chennai : DGP Shailendra Babu said that the Tamil Nadu police will investigate the military helicopter accident in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. An investigation team led by Ooty ADSP Muthumanikyam has been appointed for the purpose.
He said he had taken statements from locals and would hand over the investigation information to the Integrated Defence Staff. So far, 26 witnesses have testified. This includes tourists and locals alike.
Probe by a drone is also underway to gather more evidence from the crash site. The Indian Air Force is also conducting a special investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Bipin Rawat and his wife were brought back home. The general public are allowed to pay respects to the deceased till 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Brar Square Cemetery, Delhi.
