New Delhi: The probe team has said that the attack on Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh was planned and deliberate. The SIT found that the incident was planned in advance.
The report prepared by the team contains crucial findings against 13 people, including Ashish Mishra. The report combines sections with attempted murder.
Following this, the SIT filed an application against 13 accused, including Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra, on charges of attempted murder. Investigating officer Vidyaram Diwakar approached the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court with an application to impose additional provisions against the accused under the Arms Act.
The Uttar Pradesh police have registered a case against the accused on charges of reckless driving on public roads. However, the petition filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate states that the killings were premeditated and therefore the existing provisions should be withdrawn, and a case of attempted murder should be registered.
Meanwhile, the accused have approached the high court for bail. Uttar Pradesh police have been given two weeks to respond to a bail application.
