Kollam : Finance Minister K N Balagopal reminded that employees are also contribute to the losses incurred by KSRTC. The government has limitations in intervening in the disruption of payroll.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 'Pink Cafe' at the KSRTC garage premises as part of the 'Foods on Wheels' project launched by KSRTC and Kudumbasree Mission. KSRTC employees were protesting near the venue where the minister was arriving for the inauguration.
The minister responded that the government had given Rs 30 crore to KSRTC in December and that the government had limitations. The employees said that the strike was to protest the poverty of the employees who depend on the income from the KSRTC alone, disposing of KSRTC properties and non-payment of salaries. The strike was organized by the KSTS (BMS) Kollam West District Committee.
The Pink Cafe is designed on a dysfunctional KSRTC bus. Kayalkoottam, a Kudumbasree enterprise group in Neeravil ward, runs the restaurant.
