New Delhi : Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Health and Family Welfare has said that the Covid vaccine will be given to children soon. He said approval for two new vaccines was under consideration.
In the Rajya Sabha, Mansukh Mandaviya said preparations for the third wave were complete amid fears of Omicron. In the country, 88 per cent of people over the age of 18 are vaccinated with the first dose. Fifty-eight percent of people in the country have received two doses. Currently, there is sufficient stock of vaccine in the hands of the States and Union Territories. The minister also said that Rs 17 crore was available for vaccine stocks.
Vaccine production capacity has also increased. The capacity to produce vaccines has increased to 31 crore per month. It will be increased to Rs 45 crore in two months, he said. Currently, there are 161 cases of Omicron in the country. The changes are being closely monitored on a daily basis.
Preparations to face a third wave have been completed based on the wealth of experience gained from the first two waves. Preparations are complete to deal with any crisis, even if the variant spreads. The minister also said that important medicines were in sufficient stock.
