New Delhi : NEET PG Counselling 2021 verdict on EWS and OBC quota has been given by the Supreme Court. The Apex Court has allowed counselling session to begin for both UG and PG courses.
The Supreme Court in its verdict on Friday upheld the validity of Other Backward Class (OBC) reservation in NEET PG and UG and approved the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota for this year only. Justice DY Chandrachud said, "We have upheld the constitutional validity of 27 percent reservation for OBC in NEET PG and UG. For EWS this year the 10 percent will apply for this year." The decision on EWS quota will be taken after final hearing on March 3, 2022.
"Submission necessitate a detailed interim order on the detailed EWS criteria for NEET PG 2021. Formulation of reasons for the order will take sometime," the order mentioned. . The special bench of justices- Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AS Bopanna has pronounced the verdict today.
The doctor's association, Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) has welcomed the judgement of honourable Supreme Court in their tweet. The association had called off their protests against the delay in counselling on 31st December owing to the rise in Covid cases and assurance of their demands by the Union government.
The schedule for the counselling are expected soon. The official websites www.neet.nic.in 2021, nbe.edu.in will update the NEET counselling 2021 details.
NEET PG counselling for 50 per cent AIQ seats was scheduled to begin on October 25 but the MCC had postponed it following the Supreme Court’s direction. The MCC has also introduced some changes to the AIC NEET counselling scheme, the process will remain the same as previous years for central institutions.
