Thiruvananthapuram: DPR (detailed project report) of the Silver line Project states that noise pollution could affect the mental health of people in the area if the Silver Line project is implemented. Specific levels of noise can lead to mental illness.
Special attention should be paid to educational institutions, hospitals and places of worship. DPR also recommends that measures be taken to reduce noise pollution.
Environmental and social impact assessments during project implementation are included as part of the DPR. The study shows that people living on the Silver Line's side's' noise pollution during train starts and during construction can affect their sleep and mental health.
It is suggested that remedies be found to eliminate noise pollution as it causes major health problems. The directive also says that US standards should be implemented as India does not have guidelines in this regard.
