Gasoline Bombing using drones: a defence tactic by Ukrainians

Kyiv: Ukrainian troops and civilians are reportedly causing heavy damage to Russian forces by dropping gasoline bombs from drones. Ukrainian Territorial Defence Force, which has been active in the fight against Russia since its invasion, has conducted an experiment using drones. Reuters has released a photograph of drones dropping gasoline bombs.

Gasoline bombs by drones have been widely used, including in the eastern city of Odessa, where intensified fighting with Russian military has been going on. Once the target is spotted, bomb is released using remote control and it causes explosion due to the impact of fall to the ground.

Ukrainians are fighting to the best of their ability, using their intellectual and available technological power. People have learned through experience that gasoline bombs are better than being unarmed. Two weeks into the war, the fighting spirit does not falter for Ukrainians. These bombs are a defence against Russia for the Ukrainians, rather than an attack on them. Unexpected attack using thousands of these bombs intimidated Russian troops. Images of Ukrainian youth and people confronting Russian forces with such bombs had gained world attention in the early days of the war. It is considered that the use of such homemade bombs helped to slow down the advancement of Russian military.
