Google has been working on several new features for its apps and services. The company has announced several new features to Google Meet, Mail and other services. Recently the company announced a new blog post stating new tools and features to improve collaboration options in Meet and Spaces for all Google Workspace users. Here’s a list of what Meet and Gmail users.
In-meeting reaction with emojis
Google Meet users will be able to react using emojis right in-between an ongoing call. The reactions will appear in the participant's video title or overflow alongside their name. The feature will arrive next month.
Google Docs, Sheets and Slides integration
To cater hybrid work culture, Google has added Meet integration directly into Docs, Sheets and Slides. With this, users can now quickly start a meeting and bring it to their document, spreadsheet and presentation and present it directly into an ongoing meeting. This will allow attendees of the meeting to collaborate in real-time.
Picture-in-picture (PiP) support for web
Google has added PiP support in Meet. The feature will only work when Meet is running on the Chrome web browser, allowing users to multitask while on a meet call. The feature will arrive next month and users will be able to see four tiles of meeting attendees in a floating window over the other apps.
Automatic noise cancellation
Google is also bringing automatic noise cancellation on supported hardware from Asus and Acer. The feature will automatically remove background noise for a better calling experience.
Personal video tile
In the coming months, Meet users will be able to choose their personal video tile from Companion mode and their webcam.
Q&A support
Later this year, Google will add Q&A support for Meet Livestream. The new feature will allow livestream attendees to participate in Q&A.
Polls support
Similar to Q&A support, Google will also add polls to Google Meet while live streaming. With this feature, the host can create polls on certain topics and attendees will have the option to participate.
Livestream directly on YouTube
Google will be adding YouTube integration to Meet, enabling meeting hosts to directly stream the meetings to YouTube via activities tab.
In-line threading in Spaces
Google Space is getting a new in-line threading option. This will allow members of a particular space to respond to specific comments and create side conversations. This will also help members to keep their spaces organised and contextual.
Increased team size limit in Spaces
Currently, a space can have up to 8000 members. Google has confirmed to increase the size and allow up to 25000 members later this year.
