The Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly has agreed to adhere to the instructions of the Holy Father and the Synodal decision concerning the celebration of the Holy Qurbana.
Mar Antony Kariyil, Vicar of the Major Archbishop for the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly issued a circular stating that the Uniform liturgy will be adopted by Christmas.
The circular stated that before Christmas all requirements necessary for the celebration of the Holy Mass as mandated by the Syro Malabar Synod should be fulfilled in all parishes under the Diocese. It also stated that the decision followed the exhortation from His Holy Father Pope Francis and all dispensations given earlier in this regard to the Archdiocese stands amended.
It further stated that such a time frame was allowed in the adoption of the uniform liturgy due to the need of creating awareness in all parishes under the Archdiocese, taking into consideration the goodness arising out of the implementation of the Uniform Liturgy on the same day and also considering the pastoral issues that can pursue otherwise.
Archbishop Mar Antony Kariyil also encouraged everyone to travel together in the path of love, unity and peace by cooperating with the decisions in the circular. As Pope Francis pointed out in his letter, we must accept the path of humility and the way of the cross to live with the Lord.
