Thiruvananthapuram: Bus, auto, taxi fares across the state will increase from May 1. Antony Raju, the Minister for Road Transport, Motor Vehicles, Water Transport, Government of Kerala made the announcement.
He also said an attempt will be made to reach a consensus on all issues before the order was issued. Raju said the government was taking a cautious approach in hiking fares.
The government withdrew the fare hike during the Covid period. A special committee will be appointed to look into the demand of bus owners to raise the student’s concession fare. The matter will be considered once the committee presents its report.
He said a probe was initiated because of the media coverage of the K-Swift bus accident on its maiden voyage. Though it was a small accident, the investigation was ordered to rule out any deviousness.
