Twitter to go private, Musk buys twitter for $44bn

Elon Musk, world’s richest person, clinched a deal to buy Twitter for roughly $44 billion on Monday. The outspoken CEO of Tesla, promised a more lenient touch to policing content on the social media platform where he promotes his interests, attacks critics and opines on a wide range of issues to more than 83 million followers.

Musk said in a joint statement with Twitter that he wants to make the service “better than ever” with new features while getting rid of automated “spam″ accounts and making its algorithms open to the public to increase trust.

Twitter's Chief Executive Parag Agrawal told employees on Monday that the future of the social media firm is uncertain after the deal to be taken private under billionaire Elon Musk closes, Reuters reported.

Musk is scheduled to meet Twitter staff for a question-and-answer session at a later date, the company told employees.
