India approves vaccine in 6 to 12-year-old, Emergency meeting held between PM and CM’s

India approved emergency use of Biological E's COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax for children aged five to 12 and Bharat Biotech's Covaxin for six to 12-year olds, the country's health minister said in a tweet on Tuesday.

PM Modi called for an emergency meeting as covid case load increases in the country. A virtual meeting was held with the Chief Ministers of states at noon on Wednesday.

The meeting assessed the Covid situation in the country, preparedness in the health system and the availability of vaccines. The TPR has risen sharply in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. Wearing masks has become mandatory again.

2,483 Covid cases was reoprted in the country in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases has increased from 16,522 to 15,636. Test positivity rates are also low. The current positivity rate is 0.55%.
