Muscat – The Royal Gardens and Farms of Royal Court Affairs has bagged three prizes at the prestigious Olive Oil Award 2022 held in Zurich, Switzerland.
The 20the edition of the award held on May 5, with a participation of over 2,200 kinds of oil made by 123 producers from over 20 countries.
Oman won two bronze medals in the Coratina and Blend extra virgin olive oil product category and a silver in the Koroneiki category. These olives were produced in the Riad al Jabal farm in Jabal Akhdar.
The Olive Oil Award saw competition among 123 products from 11 countries including Spain, Italy, France, Greece, Portugal, Germany and Switzerland.
This year altogether Ten gold, 22 silver and 30 bronze medals were given away.
Hilal bin Mohammed al Waeli, director general of Royal Gardens and Farms, said, “This award is recognition of high quality, and we view it as a certificate of confidence. Winning these medals is a milestone in the efforts made by Royal Gardens to consistently achieve excellence in olive oil production with focus on sustainability.”
Extra virgin olive oil produced in Riyadh Al Jabal Farm is classified among the highest quality olive oil in the world. This factor contributes greatly in increasing the proportion of fatty acids that enhance health, immunity, antioxidants and multiple flavonoids.
The Olive Oil Award is considered one of the most important awards among olive oil producers around the world. Evaluation criteria include chemical, quality and taste factors.
