KCBC Media Awards, constituted to honour outstanding personalities in different fields of arts and culture were recently declared. The Award winners for 2022 were announced by the Chairman of KCBC Media Commission, Mar Joseph Pamplany.
Media Award
Film actor and director Dileesh Pothan won the Media Award. This award, which recognizes meritorious contributions in the audiovisual fields such as newspapers, radio, TV, Internet, cinema and non-literary arts, consists of a citation, a sculpture and a prize money.
Literary Award
Abin Joseph won the Literary Award. The winner is selected from authors of works in the fields of novel, short story, poetry, drama, autobiography, biography, travelogue and children's literature.
Young Talent Award
Film star Anna Ben won the Young Talent Award. Anna Ben is one of the great talents in the Malayalam film industry. Her first film ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ was released in 2019. She is the daughter of renowned script writer Benny P Nayarambalam and Fulja. In 2019, she had won the jury award and in 2020, the state award for best actress.
Guru Puja Award
The Guru Puja Award will be presented to Dr. M. V Thomas, Mr. M.V Varghese Mallath and Mr. Joy Thottan
Dr. M. V Thomas hails from Ayiroor, Pathanamthitta and has degrees in Malayalam Literature and journalism. He has a PHD in journalism from The Kerala University. He was Deputy Director of The Kerala State Public Relations Department. He had taught subjects like Communication Journalism and Administrative Language in various universities and institutes. He had written 20 books in Malayalam, including 'Media and Malayalam Literature', 'Issues of Administrative Language', 'People's Governance in the Vernacular', 'Children's Lessons in Literature', 'Indian Newspaper History’ and two books are also written in English. In 1987, he had received N.C.E.R.T National Award for Children's Literature for the work 'Chempakaraman Pillai'.
Mr. M.V Varghese Mallath
He had retired from St. Dominic's School, Kanjirapalli after 36 years of meritorious and dedicated service as a teacher and head master in various schools. He was associated for a long time with youth training, family evangelism and alcohol abstinence movement. He is one of the founders of TRADA, one of the initiators of 'Shastrapatham', a children's science magazine. popularly known During the period 2012-2019, he had translated ten books from English. 'Rivers along the Malayalam', 'The Unknown' (novel) and 'He Says' are his own works.
Mr. Joy Thottan
He had contributed to Malayalam Devotional songs and was born in Olloor, Trichur District. He made his debut playing the pedestal harmonium at the age of nine. His musical journey spanned for more than four decades. He was retired from ‘Aakaasha vaani’ as additional secretary in 1988 and had done music for more than 400 devotional songs.
KCBC Philosophical - Scholar Award
The award will be presented to Dr. S Kevin who had worked as Pro Vice Chancellor with the Kerala University from 2001 till 2005. He was a professor in the Commerce and Management Department of the University for 30 years. He had also served as NAAC Peer Team Chairman, Chairman of Inter University Consultative Committee (IUCC) and as principal advisor for Administrative reformation of various educational institutes. He had authored Portfolio Management, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Fundamentals of international Financial Management, Commodity and Financial Derivatives.
