Antsirabe – The people of Antsirabe witnessed a crowd of 60000 as JMJ MADA X 2022, the Tenth National Catholic Youth Day drew to a close on 4th September.
The closing day saw the presence of the Andry Rajoelina, the President of Madagascar, the first lady and other government officials.
The Holy Mass was celebrated on the closing day, with the main celebrant being Bishop Marie Fabien Raharilamboniaina, OCD, the President of Bishops Conference in Madagascar. The Holy Mass was also graced by the presence of Cardinal Désiré Tsarahazana, Bishops from all 22 dioceses and youth chaplains from each diocese.
The President of Madagascar commended the catholic church for their contribution towards the development of the youth and the Country and also offered his wholehearted support. He also made sure to join in the meals along with the government officials, Bishops and Priests.
Two representatives from Portugal representing the Lisbon World Youth Day 2023 also attended the convention.
H.E Georges Varkey Puthiyakulangara, Bishop of Port-Bergé, said the event was a display of faith by the youth who came to the venue after travelling for days on foot.
The youth present at the convention braved the cold to attend the night vigil with a strong viogur of faith. Many were moved to tears by the enactment of the Passion of our Lord.
The event said Bishop Geroges will long remain in the hearts of many as a delightful and joyous memory.
The next chapter of the National Catholic Youth Day will be held after four years in 2026 at Tamatave in the east coast of Madagascar.
