Attempts to trap Christian girls in ‘Love Entanglements’ a reality; Mar Joseph Pamplany

Kannur: The Thalassery Archdiocese has come out with an explanation about the ‘Love Entanglement’ remarks mentioned in a recent pastoral letter issued by it. Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany has reiterated that the ‘Love Entanglements’ targeting Christian girls is a reality. While talking to a private TV channel, the bishop has clarified that the church is raising this issue on the basis of certain facts.

The mentions about the so called ‘love - trap’ in the pastoral letter should not be construed as religious intolerance. It reflects the sorrows of parents whose children are caught ‘in the bait of religious extremists’. Love that misleads girls into peril is not real love. The Church has accurate figures on how many girls have fallen into such traps, and the claims in this regard are based on these facts. The bishop also added that these allegations are not aimed at any particular religious group.

Last Sunday, the pastoral letter about ‘Love- Entanglements’ was read in churches under the Thalassery Archdiocese. It was mentioned in the letter that many parents are devastated by the efforts of religious extremist groups targeting Christian girls and that the Church would continue issuing instructions to prevent children from falling into such traps.
