'Disastrous development': Latin archdiocese set to step up strike; Circulars were read in churches

Thiruvananthapuram: A circular was read in Latin churches regarding the Vizhinjam anti-port strike. The special circular was calling for the success of roadblocks and protest programmes

In the circular, the archdiocese stated that the government did not consider even one of the seven demands of the archdiocese sympathetically but did everything without doing anything.

The main points mentioned in the circular are:

"The authorities are not listening to the cries of the coastal people. People in inhumane living conditions are not relocated. This is blasphemy and satanism. When we talk about losing the coast, they talk about global warming. The circular was read during Mass in all churches under the archdiocese.

A road blockade has been announced at eight centers in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. Soon there will be discussions with the government to resume the construction of the port as soon as possible. The cabinet sub-committee will meet the protesters after consultation with the chief minister.
