Washington DC: The movie 'Jesus Revolution', a powerful true story of revival, rock and roll, and newfound love, of how America's young hippies ignited their passion for Jesus, will hit the theatres in February 2023.
The plot of the movie follows a young man Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney) who is searching for all the right things in all the wrong places: until he meets Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie), a charismatic hippie-street-preacher.
Together with Pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer), they open the doors of Smith’s languishing church to an unexpected revival of radical and newfound love, leading to a JESUS REVOLUTION that changed the world.
Jonathan Roumie also plays Jesus in the popular Bible television series 'The Chosen'.
Hippieism, a youth rebel movement, took shape in the 1960s in rich capitalist countries such as the United States, Britain, France, and Italy against the hollowness of modern civilization. The movement attributes its origins to San Francisco, California.
Roumie described the movie as 'a new counterculture crusade, a Jesus initiative that changed the course of history'.
The cast share their thoughts on the movie and what the audience will experience in exclusive interviews posted on the Facebook page of the movie.
For Actress Anna Grace Barlow the movie is “a story about finding each other and their faith."
Devon Franklin said that viewers are in for a big message of hope and love. Kelsey Grammer vouches that the movie will help viewers find their faith.
The movie produced by Kingdom Story Company, distributed by Lionsgate and directed by Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle is set to release on February 24.
According to John Erwin the movie depicts a unique period in history. It was a time when the generation was in fear and doubt, looking for the right things in the wrong places. It was a powerful move by God that shaped the culture of America, the likes of which we have never experienced.
Based on the book written by Pastor Greg Lowry, the movie took seven years to complete the shoots. Greg Lowry said in an interview with CBN News that America is in need of a spiritual renaissance.
