Truss apologizes for errors; "will continue to lead"

Truss apologizes for errors;

London: British Prime Minister Liz Truss has said that her new economic policy is the reason for the severe economic insecurity facing Britain and she apologizes for implementing it recklessly.

The new policy, implemented without foresight, produced profoundly negative results.

But I only wanted the good of the country. Truss said, "No matter what happens, I will continue to lead."

"I do want to accept responsibility and say sorry for the mistakes that have been made," Truss told the media.

New Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt on Monday reversed the tax cut policy implemented by former Finance Minister Kwasi Karteng last month. With this, Truss's position as Prime Minister was in more crisis.

The Trus tried to replace the finance minister to save face when he was facing criticism for his economic policy.
Asked if she was now prime minister in name only, Truss said she had appointed Hunt because she knew she had to change direction.

Economists estimate that the British government is at a loss of 60 billion pounds.

But Hunt says the new measure could save £32bn a year.

Hunt also informed that it has been decided in discussions with the Prime Minister to withdraw most of the policies implemented three weeks ago.

Truss, who became leader less than six weeks ago, is facing a possible revolt from her lawmakers as soon as this week, according to reports.

But she remained defiant on Monday, saying she would lead her Conservatives into the next election.

"I'm sticking around because I was elected to deliver for this country," she said. "And that is what I am determined to do."
