Kochi: The major Archbishop of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and Metropolitan Cardinal of Thiruvananthapuram Diocese His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Bava was elected as the new President of the Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council (KCBC).

Mar Pauly Kannookadan, Bishop of Iringalakuda Diocese was elected as the Vice President. Mar Alex Joseph Vadakumthala, Bishop of Kannur Diocese was elected as Secretary General of KCBC.

Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis Bava will assume the position upon completion of the tenure of Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. The new leadership was elected at the KCBC Winter Conference held at KCBC headquarters, Palarivattam POC, Kochi.

Cardinal Mar George Alencherry has completed his three-year tenure as the President of KCBC. This is the second time that Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis Bava has become the President. He was the president of CBCI for four years from 2014.
