His Pontificate began on 4th January, AD275. Very little hisortical information is available about his life and Pontificate.
He is believed to have been born in Luna, Italy around AD240.

The Church was facing severe crisis during his reign as the Pontiff. This was a period where the Church was in turmoil due to issues with the Roman Empire.
Though it was a time of crisis, Pope Eutychian relentlessly labored to strengthen the faith of the Church and faithful who were going through a period of religious persecution.
Legends from this era claim that Eutychian was one of the first popes to bless crops. It is said that he visited farmers across Rome and granted them blessings that their crops would grow. He also allowed parishioners to bring grapes and other crops such as beans to church and place them on his altar for a blessing.
His pontificate ended on 7th December AD283. As was the custom at the time, the Church had his remains moved to the papal crypt at the Catacombs of Callixtus. Located on Appian Way, this crypt is now part of the Catacombs of Rome.
