Golden Temple's Heritage Street Experiences Second Explosion

Punjab, India - Amritsar's Heritage Street near Golden Temple witnesses second explosion in less than 24 hours.

On May 8, another explosion took place on Heritage Street near the Golden Temple in Amritsar, following a blast that occurred on the same street the previous night. The second explosion occurred during the early hours of the day, prompting the arrival of police teams at the scene, who have since launched an investigation. The location of the second blast was close to the Golden Temple.

Mehtab Singh, ADCP of Amritsar, provided an update on the reported blast near the Golden Temple, stating, "We are currently in the process of verification. The situation in the area is under control. We have deployed the Anti-Sabotage, Bomb Squad, and FSL teams on-site. One individual sustained a minor leg injury."

It is worth mentioning that during the initial explosion, one individual sustained injuries, and several nearby buildings had their glass facades damaged. The police have conducted a preliminary investigation and concluded that the blast occurred as a result of a chimney blockage in a restaurant situated on the street.

Following the blast on Saturday, forensic teams promptly arrived at the scene where the explosion was heard within a one-kilometer radius of the Golden Temple. The police reported that one individual sustained minor injuries, and the glass facades of several buildings were damaged in an explosion that occurred on the heritage street near the Golden Temple.

The Amritsar police stated that a news report regarding the blasts in Amritsar is circulating widely on social media, but reassured that the situation is currently under control. An investigation is underway to ascertain the accurate details of the incident, and there is no need for alarm. The police urged citizens to maintain peace and harmony, advising everyone to verify information before sharing it. A devotee present at the blast site mentioned that a few girls, who had traveled from Panchkula in Haryana to visit the Golden Temple, sustained minor injuries from shards of glass resulting from the explosion.
