Cardinal Ferrao: Synodal Leadership Is The Need of The Hour

The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India's (CCBI) President, Cardinal Ferrão, has underlined that synodality is a journey of discernment taken in the community, which necessitates the development of a new type of ecclesiastical leadership known as ‘Synodal Leadership’.

The Cardinal, who is also the Archbishop of Goa and Daman, announced this on Sunday in Bangalore at the beginning of the CCBI's national workshop for strategic planning.

He asserted that this leadership will foster an atmosphere in which all churchgoers are included to guarantee and meet their profound desire to be recognized, cherished, and respected.

The Cardinal continued by saying that it aspires to elevate synodal culture, which raises the spirits and engagement of laypeople, clergy, and religious in carrying out the Lord's work with greater passion.

The two-day strategic planning workshop, chaired by Fr. Joseph Xavier, S.J., Director of Indian Social Institute (ISI), Bangalore, attempted to build an in-depth plan for accomplishing the strategic planning process at both the national and regional levels.
