Shining Stars of Faith: Syro-Malabar Catechism Wraps Up Catechetical Year 22-23 With Celestial Bells

Dubai - Igniting hearts and uplifting spirits, the Syro-Malabar Catechism Dubai, celebrated the much-awaited Catechism Annual Day Function, Celestial Bells 2023, with a dazzling display of faith and fervour in St Mary's Catholic Church, Dubai.



The event held on 4th June, Sunday brought together the entire community, fostering a sense of togetherness, with children displaying their spiritual journey through skits, dance and group songs.

The event commenced with a prayer song invoking the blessings of God.


The traditional lamp was thereafter lit by the distinguished guests.


Vipin Varghese, Headmaster of Syro-Malabar Catechism, Dubai welcomed everyone gathered to the celebrations.


Fr. Lennie J. A. Connully, OFM Cap., Parish Priest of St. Marys Catholic Church, Dubai praised the children for nurturing their tradition, faith and love of God.


Fr. Varghese Kozhippadan, OFM Cap., spiritual director of the Malayalam Community, St. Marys Catholic Church, Dubai reminded the children of the importance of Catechism classes and how they help in managing situations in daily lives.



Manoj Thomas, President of Syro-Malabar Community, Dubai felicitated the parents, students, teachers and recalled the importance of faith in one’s journey on earth.



Students of Grade 10 and 12 who are toppers in their respective schools were given appreciation certificates. Students who have achieved top positions in various socio-cultural activities were also provided with Appreciation certificates.



Students who completed Grade 12 were awarded Course completion certificates.



Children who achieved 100% attendance were also awarded Appreciation Certificates. Riona Benny spoke on behalf of the students outlining her faith formation journey as completes Grade 12. Vote of Thanks was rendered by the Assistant Headmaster Stephen Joy.

Catechism classes are conducted from KG2 to Grade 12 in two sessions on Saturdays and Sundays. The teachers have been training the children for almost two months for the programmes.


The highlight of the program was the series of vibrant and well-coordinated performances by the Catechism students.


Children were able to showcase their talents through captivating skits, musical performances, and faith filled songs, all centered around the teachings of the Catholic Church. 


The performances demonstrated the profound impact that the Catechism program has had on the spiritual growth of the students.


The Catechism Annual Day was a celebration of faith, unity, and fellowship, leaving a lasting impression on all those who attended.
