Moscow - According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, there is a growing concern about the radicalization of society in Paris. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed deep worry over the significant increase in violence taking place in France. The violence was sparked by the shooting of a 17-year-old individual who had Algerian and Moroccan heritage by the French police
Zakharova cautioned the authorities in Paris against employing any form of police brutality and urged them to promptly investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder and ensure that the culprits face appropriate punishment.
Zakharova emphasized that the situation in France should not pose a threat to the overall security of Europe as a whole. Moscow condemned not only the police brutality that is believed to have contributed to the outbreak of violence but also the subsequent disorder caused by rioters who engaged in looting numerous stores and inflicting injuries upon hundreds of police officers.
Furthermore, Zakharova highlighted that France has witnessed numerous instances of human rights violations and cases of police brutality in recent years. However, the killing of the 17-year-old Algerian teenager by a police officer has brought to light the true extent of the problems within the country, contradicting its self-proclaimed status as the birthplace of human rights. This statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry underscores their concern about the situation in France and their call for the French authorities to address the underlying issues contributing to the escalating violence and radicalization within society.
