On July 10th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Polish President Andrzej Duda participated in a religious ceremony in the city of Lutsk.
During a televised event on Sunday, President Zelensky and President Duda greeted each other in front of the church and shared an embrace. President Duda expressed his solidarity with the victims of Volhynia, stating that the shared memory brings the two nations together and makes them stronger.
Located near the border with Poland, Lutsk is situated in the western region of Ukraine. Following their visit to the church, Presidents Zelensky and Duda engaged in a meeting. Zelensky shared on Twitter that the discussion was brief but meaningful, focusing on the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius. The two leaders expressed their commitment to collaborate and achieve the best possible outcome for Ukraine during the summit.
In his remarks, President Duda described the meeting with President Zelensky as a symbol of friendship despite the challenging historical context. He also highlighted that the purpose of the meeting was to conduct final discussions prior to the NATO summit in Vilnius, which was scheduled to commence in two days.
President Duda expressed the significance of providing substantial assistance to Ukraine in its endeavor to become a NATO member through a tweet. Poland, being one of Ukraine's strongest allies, frequently takes the lead in advocating for NATO nations to increase their support and supplies to the war-affected country.
