Kolkota - The counting of votes is currently underway for the violence-affected panchayat elections in West Bengal. The polling took place on Saturday across more than 61,000 booths, witnessing a voter turnout of 80.71 percent. Unfortunately, incidents of violence, including looting and burning of ballot boxes, were reported in various areas. Re-polling in 696 booths concluded on Monday, with a voter turnout of 66.42 percent amidst sporadic violence. The rural population of around 5.67 crore was eligible to decide the fate of 2.06 lakh candidates competing for 73,887 seats in the panchayat system.

TMC (Trinamool Congress) has won 10 gram panchayat seats in various districts:
North 24 Parganas: 1 seat
South 24 Parganas: 5 seats
Paschim Medinipur: 2 seats
Purulia: 1 seat
Purba Burdwan: 1 seat
In Bankura, TMC is leading in 65 out of 190 gram panchayat seats.
As per the latest trends, TMC is leading in 43 out of 215 gram panchayat seats in East Bardhaman.
TMC is currently leading in 36 out of 211 gram panchayat seats in West Medinipur.
In Cooch Behar, TMC is leading in 10 out of 128 gram panchayat seats.
