German Vice Chancellor Commences Three-Day Visit to New Delhi

Berlin - German Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Dr. Robert Habeck, is set to embark on a significant three-day visit to New Delhi, commencing on Thursday. The itinerary of his visit includes multiple Indian cities.

Accompanying Vice-Chancellor Habeck will be a high-ranking official and a business delegation comprising top executives from prominent German companies, highlighting the importance of economic ties between the two nations.

During his stay, Vice-Chancellor Habeck has scheduled high-level meetings with key Indian officials, including Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, and RK Singh, Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy.

An Indo-German Business Forum will be inaugurated by Habeck in New Delhi, with the theme "Inviting Innovation: Transforming the Economy for a shared sustainable future," organized by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.

To promote bilateral cooperation, Vice-Chancellor Habeck plans to visit various Indo-German joint ventures in Delhi and Mumbai. Additionally, he will engage with the Government of Maharashtra to visit a non-governmental project that supports sustainable development and interact with young Indian entrepreneurs. Towards the end of his visit, Habeck will participate in the G-20 Energy Ministers meeting in Goa.

In anticipation of his visit, Habeck expressed to German media representatives that India, being the world's most populous country, holds significant potential as a key growth market. He affirmed Germany's interest in strengthening its strategic partnership with India, which would contribute to the resilience and diversification of the German economy. Particularly, he emphasized untapped cooperation possibilities in renewable energy and green hydrogen sectors. This visit seeks to enhance bilateral relations and explore opportunities for sustainable economic collaboration between Germany and India.
