New Delhi - In a concerted effort to reinvigorate discussions surrounding the proposed free trade agreement, India and the European Union (EU) are preparing for a series of high-level meetings this month, as outlined in an official statement.
EU representatives are scheduled to participate in the G20 trade ministers meeting in Jaipur during this month. Moreover, a ministerial-level high-level meeting has been arranged for August 26 in the national capital, facilitating substantive conversations between India and the EU.
The official further clarified, "Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal is anticipated to engage in discussions with EU Director General for Trade Sabine Weyand in Jaipur."
These interactions are anticipated to inject fresh momentum into the ongoing negotiations concerning the free trade agreement (FTA) between the two entities.
As a component of India's G20 Presidency, the G20 Trade and Investment Ministerial Meeting is slated to take place from August 24 to 25 in Jaipur. To date, five rounds of negotiations have been conducted regarding the FTA.
