Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Releases Video Showcasing India's Inaugural 8-Lane Elevated Dwarka Expressway

Dwarka - The Dwarka Expressway, also known as the Northern Peripheral Road, stands out as one of the most highly anticipated road projects in India. Envisioned to establish a connection between Dwarka and Gurgaon, it presents an alternative route linking these two cities. Recently, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled a sneak peek into this pioneering development. However, the online community is raising inquiries about the toll charges associated with it.

Minister Nitin Gadkari offered a glimpse of India's inaugural elevated road project, the Dwarka Expressway, this past Sunday. Hailed by the Minister of Highways and Road Transport as a "state-of-the-art" and an engineering "marvel," the expressway is currently under construction.

Spanning over 18.9 km and costing approximately ₹9,000 crore, this 34-metre-wide expressway is being developed in Haryana and the national capital. It comprises a four-level road network consisting of graded roads, elevated roads, tunnels, underpasses, and flyovers. This comprehensive network is slated to commence near Shiv Murti and culminate at the Kherki Daula Toll Plaza.

Complementing the motorway, a three-lane service road is also being constructed on both sides. An additional feature of the entire expressway is the implementation of an Intelligent Transport System (ITS), designed to enhance the overall travel experience.

In India, the escalating toll charges have emerged as a significant concern. An April report from Mint highlighted an increase in toll rates, with a substantial 14 percent rise in fares for vehicles traveling on national highways. This surge in prices has led to distressing incidents, such as the unfortunate case of a toll plaza employee in Noida being fatally struck by a vehicle whose driver refused to pay the toll fare.
