New Delhi - The Indian men's 10m air rifle team achieved a remarkable feat at the Asian Games on Monday, securing the coveted gold medal and setting a new world record in the process. Comprising the trio of world champion Rudrankksh Patil, Olympian Divyansh Panwar, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, their outstanding performance left spectators in awe. This victory marked India's first gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
During the qualification round, the Indian team achieved an astonishing aggregate score of 1893.7 points, surpassing the previous world record of 1893.3 points set by the Chinese team just a month prior at the World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. This incredible achievement not only secured the gold medal but also etched their names into the history of shooting.
Rudrankksh Patil displayed nerves of steel, amassing an impressive score of 632.5 points. Tomar, renowned for his precision, made a significant contribution with a score of 631.6 points, while Panwar's exceptional marksmanship added 629.6 points to the team's overall score. Together, they combined forces to rewrite the record books with their world record-breaking performance.
In a closely contested competition, South Korea clinched the silver medal with an aggregate score of 1890.1, showcasing their own prowess in the discipline.
