These interactions, captured in a video shared on social media platform X, featured discussions with counterparts such as Sameh Shoukry of Egypt, Gen. Jeje Odongo of Uganda, Constantinos Kombos of Cyprus, Carlos Pereira of Guinea Bissau, and Abdul Momen of Bangladesh. Additionally, he met with Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia.
These discussions took place on the sidelines of the UNGA session, with Jaishankar and his counterparts engaging in bilateral talks in the presence of officials from both sides.
Jaishankar's outreach extended to Cyprus, where he met with Constantinos Kombos and conveyed best wishes to President Christodulides. They discussed follow-up steps to his visit last December, emphasizing India's growing interest in the Mediterranean and the enduring partnership with Cyprus.
In another notable meeting, Jaishankar reconnected with Uganda's Foreign Minister, Gen. Jeje Odongo, expressing satisfaction with the progress of various bilateral initiatives. India offered full support for Uganda's upcoming presidencies of NAM and G77.
Jaishankar also met his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, in New York. Shoukry praised India's Presidency of G20, and the two ministers reviewed the significant advancements in bilateral cooperation between India and Egypt in 2023.
