Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar Holds Discussion with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh

Hanoi - Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar held a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday, expressing his appreciation for the guidance provided by the Prime Minister to further enhance the India-Vietnam relationship.

"Honored to have had the opportunity to meet with PM Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam in the evening today. I conveyed the warm greetings of PM @narendramodi and deeply valued his insights for advancing our bilateral ties. A stronger partnership between India and Vietnam is a significant contribution to a stable, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific," EAM Jaishankar shared on 'X'.

During his visit, EAM Jaishankar also engaged in discussions with Le Hoai Trung, the Chairman of the External Relation Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He highlighted the convergence of India and Vietnam on crucial regional and global issues.

Furthermore, EAM Jaishankar addressed the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, delivering insights on "India in the Indo-Pacific." He stressed the importance of cooperation in the Indo-Pacific framework, emphasizing ASEAN centrality and the role of the Quad. He underscored how India and Vietnam, with their independent perspectives, can promote a multipolar and rules-based global order.

The External Affairs Minister's visit to Vietnam was extended as an invitation from his counterpart, Bui Thanh Son. As part of his visit, EAM Jaishankar inaugurated the bust of Rabindranath Tagore in Bac Ninh province and enjoyed a performance by the Quan Ho Art Theater group. He also interacted with the Indian diaspora and visited the Phat Tich Pagoda Buddhist Cultural Centre in Bac Ninh province.

EAM Jaishankar shared his interactions on 'X,' expressing his appreciation for the warm welcome and the strong cultural connections between India and Vietnam. Phat Tich Pagoda is a cultural center that preserves the artistic and cultural heritage of the Ly Dynasty. During his visit, the EAM had the opportunity to meet with Most Ven. Thich Thanh Nhieu from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, discussing topics related to spirituality, yoga, art, and culture.
