Sachin Tendulkar Statue Takes Center Stage at Wankhede Stadium Today

Mumbai - On Wednesday, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is all set to reveal a life-size statue of the cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar at his beloved home ground, the Wankhede Stadium. This iconic venue has always held a special place in Tendulkar's heart, and it is fitting that his statue will grace its premises.

The grand unveiling of Tendulkar's statue is scheduled to take place on the eve of the India-Sri Lanka ICC World Cup 2023 match. Tendulkar, a cricket veteran with a remarkable 200 Test matches under his belt, has achieved incredible records, amassing 15,921 Test runs and an astonishing 18,426 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs). The cricket legend himself will be present at the unveiling ceremony to witness this momentous occasion.

The statue of Tendulkar, located near the Sachin Tendulkar Stand at Wankhede Stadium, is receiving its final touches in preparation for the event. This statue serves as a dedication to the 50 remarkable years of Tendulkar's life, as he celebrated his 50th birthday earlier this year. Notably, the unveiling ceremony on November 1 will be graced by the presence of Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

It's worth noting that Sachin Tendulkar bid farewell to his illustrious cricket career at Wankhede Stadium, where a stand has been dedicated in his honor. After a successful two-decade-long career, the right-handed batsman played his 200th and final Test match at the Wankhede Stadium in November 2013.
