Initial Departure of US Citizens from Gaza Coincides with Biden's Pledge to Address Conflict

Tel Aviv - U.S. citizens were among the hundreds of foreign nationals who escaped through the gates at Gaza's border crossing with Egypt on Wednesday, marking the first time that people trapped inside Gaza since fighting broke out between Israel and Hamas have been allowed to leave

Furthermore, earlier, Biden posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter), assuring that their efforts to evacuate Americans from Gaza would persist without relenting.

Biden expressed confidence in seeing more progress in this evacuation process in the coming days, affirming that the administration is tirelessly working to ensure the safe and prompt evacuation of Americans from Gaza.

During a speech in Minnesota on Wednesday, President Joe Biden revealed that he had personally engaged in extensive discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, among others, to ensure the opening of this access for people to leave Gaza.

U.S. citizens will have specific departure dates assigned to them, and they will receive emails containing detailed instructions on how to proceed with their exit, according to Miller.

Miller did not reveal the exact number of Americans who left Gaza, but he stated that approximately 400 Americans have been in contact with the State Department, expressing their desire to leave. When considering their family members, the total number of individuals affected is estimated to be around 1,000.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, on Wednesday, described the situation as highly dynamic but emphasized its significance.
