Qatar's Prime Minister Initiates Actions for Gaza Ceasefire and Hostage Release

Doha - Qatar is actively pursuing the cessation of hostilities in Gaza and is dedicated to ensuring the termination of Israeli bombings and the release of hostages.

Speaking at the Doha Forum, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, emphasized the unacceptable nature of targeting civilians, regardless of their Israeli or Palestinian identity. He highlighted the release of over a hundred hostages through negotiations and expressed his commitment to securing the release of the remaining hostages and putting an end to the bombings.

Acknowledging a lack of substantial willingness from either side, he underscored that the Qatari government remains steadfast and will continue to engage with both parties. Sheikh Al Thani emphasized the necessity for further negotiations.

Expressing deep concern about the ongoing war and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Prime Minister Al Thani conveyed his sadness. When questioned about the potential for escalation, he expressed a hope that it would not occur but acknowledged the persistent possibility.
