Warsaw - Donald Tusk, the leader of a centrist party, has become Poland's prime minister once again after a parliamentary vote on Monday, marking his return after nearly a decade.
Tusk, a former EU leader, is expected to lead a new pro-European Union government following eight years of conservative rule. The change is seen as consequential for Poland, where anger against the Law and Justice party led to a record-high turnout in the recent election.
Tusk's leadership is expected to boost centrist, pro-EU forces at a time when Euroskeptics are gaining strength in Europe.
The power transition follows weeks of delay by President Andrzej Duda, and Tusk is set to face various challenges, including Russia's war in Ukraine.
