Hyderabad: For individuals experiencing a brain stroke, timely arrival at a stroke center can greatly improve recovery outcomes. Neurologists at an awareness event held by Yashoda Hospitals in Secunderabad on Tuesday highlighted that delaying treatment by even an hour after stroke symptoms appear reduces the chance of successful recovery by 30 percent.

The awareness program, organized to observe World Stroke Day, underscored the importance of families quickly transporting stroke patients to specialized centers. Advanced medical interventions like mechanical thrombectomy, which removes blood clots and restores brain circulation, have significantly enhanced treatment options and survival rates, according to Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director of Yashoda Hospital Group. The event was attended by Inspector General of Police Ramesh Masthipuram, senior neurologist Dr. R.N. Komal Kumar, and other healthcare professionals.

A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted, potentially leading to temporary or permanent brain cell damage, making immediate medical attention essential for optimal recovery.
