Buenos Aires: In Buenos Aires, Argentine authorities arrested a man in possession of a significant collection of vintage Nazi weapons adorned with symbols from Adolf Hitler’s regime, officials announced on Friday.
Police seized more than 60 firearms from the man’s residence, including 43 rifles marked with Nazi eagle insignias, 15 pistols, a machine gun, and five bayonets. Additionally, Nazi flags, military uniforms, helmets, hats, and busts of Hitler were confiscated, according to a report from Argentina's federal police.
The operation was conducted with the assistance of personnel from the Buenos Aires Holocaust Museum and aimed to enforce the country’s national anti-discrimination law.
The weapons and artifacts were discovered at a home in Quilmes, located on the southern outskirts of Buenos Aires. The man had been under surveillance after international travel linked him to an investigation by Bosnia-Herzegovina's federal police.
Argentina has a historical connection to former Nazi officials who fled Europe after World War II to evade prosecution for war crimes, including notorious figures like Adolf Eichmann.
This incident follows a related crackdown last year, in which authorities shut down a local bookstore for selling Nazi-related materials online.
