Birmingham: The Syro-Malabar Diocese of Great Britain has entered the third year of its five-year pastoral plan with the inauguration of the Spiritual Year Celebration, led by Archbishop Mar Joseph Srampickal at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Liverpool.
To guide the faithful during this special year, Archbishop Srampickal issued a circular outlining key action plans for the observance, which spans from December 1, 2024, to November 29, 2025. He encouraged members of the diocese to express gratitude for their rich East Syriac spiritual heritage and remain steadfast in preserving their unique traditions.
A variety of activities have been scheduled for the Spiritual Year, including continuous Bible readings, daily participation in Yama prayers facilitated via Zoom for diocesan-wide involvement, active reception of the sacraments, a renewed commitment to a penitent spiritual life, and the much-anticipated Urha Family Quiz 2025 to deepen understanding of Eastern spirituality.
During the inaugural event, Dr. Tom Olikarot, Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator, and Rev. Fr. James Kozhimala, the parish vicar, addressed the congregation, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in fostering spiritual growth within the community.
