Vatican City: Pope Francis blessed the logo of the Syro-Malabar Church's Pro-Life Apostolate during a special moment at the Vatican. Sabu Jose, Executive Secretary of the Family, Laity, and Life Commission, had the privilege of meeting the Pope while attending Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad's elevation to the cardinalate.
The logo prominently features the scripture from Jeremiah 1:5: "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I sanctified you." It also includes a vibrant depiction of a mother tenderly cradling her child, symbolizing the sanctity and love of life. Sabu Jose shared that Pope Francis expressed approval with the words, "Good, good."
The Pope’s acknowledgment and support of the pro-life initiatives, aimed at “comprehensive protection of human life for the glory of God,” brought immense joy and inspiration to the ministry, Sabu Jose noted. Copies of the logo, officially approved by the Holy Father, were presented to the Vatican's Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life. He also announced that several families from Kerala would attend the World Meeting of Families at the Vatican in May.
The Pro-Life Apostolate of the Syro-Malabar Church, inspired by the Vatican’s Dicastery for the Family, was established under the leadership of Cardinal Mar George Alencherry. Its first chairman was Mar Mathew Arakkal, followed by Mar Joseph Kallarangatt. Currently, the Apostolate is headed by Mar George Mathathikandam, with Mar Peter Kochupurakkal overseeing its special pro-life initiatives.
