The inaugural Eucharistic Congress of the Thalassery Archdiocese commenced amidst the gathering of thousands

Thomapuram: The inaugural Eucharistic Congress of the Thalassery Archdiocese commenced with a grand celebration at Thomapuram, drawing thousands to the event. Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplani ceremonially lit the lamp at the "Eucharistic City," an area specially prepared on the grounds of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School. During his address, Mar Pamplany reflected on the faith-driven legacy of the early settlers in Malabar, who prioritized building a place of worship for the Holy Eucharist even before constructing their own homes. He emphasized that the spiritual and material development witnessed in these regions today is a testament to their unwavering faith and sacrifices.

The ceremonies began at 4:30 PM with the recitation of the rosary, followed by a Holy Mass celebrated under the leadership of Archbishop Emeritus Mar George Njaralakkad. Several dignitaries participated, including Vicar Generals Mon. Anthony Muthukunnel, Mon. Sebastian Palakuzhi, and Mon. Mathew Ilamthuruthipadavil, along with Chancellor Rev. Dr. Joseph Muttathukunnel and other prominent clergy members.

A highlight of the event was the Divine Mercy Convention, led by Fr. Daniel Poovannathil, whose meditative sessions provided a profound spiritual experience for many attendees. The Eucharistic Exhibition, organized by the MCBS community, captivated both children and adults with its creative displays. Guided by the inspiration of Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young visionary who documented over 100 Eucharistic miracles online, the exhibition showcased remarkable models of Eucharistic miracles, including depictions of the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection. It also highlighted scriptural symbols that unravel the mystery of the Holy Eucharist.

The Congress includes sessions addressing key spiritual themes. Rev. Dr. Augustine Pamplany, AKCC Global Director Rev. Dr. Philip Kaviyil, and Sister Adv. Josiah SD will lead the first session on faith in God. The second session, focusing on challenges faced by the community, will feature Dr. Sajimon Palakkal, Rev. Dr. Joseph Muttathukunnel, and Fr. Joseph Kakkaramattom. The day will conclude with a Holy Mass presided over by Mar Joseph Pandaraseril, Auxiliary Bishop of the Kottayam Archdiocese, followed by a Eucharistic Convention led by Fr. Daniel Poovannathil.

To accommodate pilgrims traveling from afar, extensive arrangements have been made in Thomapuram and the surrounding areas. Services such as confession, pre-registered counseling, laying on of hands, and healing sessions are available throughout the convention. The Eucharistic Congress and accompanying activities will culminate on December 14.
