Minority students, including Christians, can apply for scholarships

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Minority Welfare Department is inviting applications for the renewal of the C.H. Muhammed Koya Scholarship and Hostel Stipend for minority students (Muslim, Christian of all denominations, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi) pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or professional courses in government or government-aided institutions across Kerala. This opportunity is available to students who were awarded the scholarship during the 2023-24 financial year.

The scholarship amounts are allocated annually as follows: ₹5,000 for undergraduate students, ₹6,000 for postgraduate students, ₹7,000 for professional course students, and ₹13,000 for hostel stipends. Students may apply for either the scholarship or the hostel stipend, but not both.

Eligibility for the hostel stipend includes residence in college hostels or private hostels recognized by the institution's head. Selection is based on the applicant’s annual family income. Applicants must hold a personal bank account with any nationalized or scheduled bank.

Applications can be submitted online through the scholarship section of the Minority Welfare Department’s official website: www.minoritywelfare.kerala.gov.in. The deadline for submission is December 30. For further details, contact 0471-2300524 or 0471-2302090.
