Muvattupuzha: Msgr. Pius Malekandamtil, a distinguished member of the Kothamangalam diocese, has been appointed as a permanent member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Department of Arts and History at Lisbon University in Portugal. Previously, he served as a professor of history at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi for 15 years. Currently, he holds the position of Vicar General of the Kothamangalam diocese and oversees educational institutions including Vazhakkulam Vishwajyothi Engineering College, Muvattupuzha Nirmala College, and Thodupuzha Newman College.

Msgr. Pius Malekandamtil has also served as an Associate Professor at both Goa University and Adi Shankara University, Kalady. He has authored over twenty books in German and Portuguese and has published approximately 120 research articles on international platforms. Mon. Pius Malekandamtil is a globally recognized historian specializing in maritime history, Indian maritime studies, Indian trade history, and medieval urban history studies.
